Mark Trompeteler

I worked half of my life in the audio visual production industries. In the second half I worked as a Senior Lecturer and then Faculty Head in Creative and Media Further and Higher Education. I have always also worked in a freelance capacity. I co-ordinate and operate the Society’s Accreditation Scheme with the oversight and support of the Education and Training Committee. The scheme has been revitalised in recent years after nearly ceasing. I undertake all aspects of this work which has included organising events at such places as Pinewood, MPC, The Groucho Club, and a decade of annual events at BFI Southbank. Now in its fourth year, I also organise an international student film competition in conjunction with the National Media Museum. This puts the Society’s name in front of emerging young international “creatives”, and media production departments inside universities, around the world ( 510 entries last year ). All this provides a regular income stream for the Society. My interest in Council is to work and support the society in every respect, but also with its new brand and structure, to help grow all of the above activities that I have been working on, in conjunction with colleagues.
